The Pacifica was initially designed in 1999 as a concept vehicle called Citadel9. Over the years, the Chrysler Pacifica transitioned from concept to crossover SUV and then to a minivan. The 1999 Pacifica concept was created to commemorate the anniversary of the Chrysler Minivan, but it was also intended to be a more upscale version of the Town & Country. It wasn’t until 2002, the first production model of the Chrysler Pacifica was unveiled at the New York Auto Show.
